DATE CHANGE for the 9th Annual Polar Bear Swim! The Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club
9th Annual Polar Bear Swim will be held on Saturday, December 31 at 2 PM. This
is so Gainesville Mayor Wangeman can make his 9th consecutive annual leap into
the chilly waters of Lake Lanier! The date change to Saturday afternoon will
prevent a conflict with Sunday church services!
The theme this year will be the Olympics to celebrate the 10th anniversary of
the 1996 Olympic Games! We will once again have a T-shirt, Hot Chili, Hot Tubs,
Best Costume and Best jump competitions. Each jumper will make a $25
contribution to the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club, a 501c3 organization! Spectating
is entertaining and FREE! J
Father Vincent from St Michaels is encouraging the entire church population
to jump to celebrate the New Year and symbolically take an adventurous step in
life!
The Polar Bear Swim also a great way to support a wonderful youth program in
our community! Come join us! It’s going to be a LOT of fun!
LCKC will be seeking sponsors for the event poster and T-shirt through mid
December!
